AUDITIONS CURRENTLY CLOSED

Register for Auditions

Auditions are held annually in October. Dates and information regarding how to register for an audition will be announced in early September each year! Please join our facebook page to keep up to date with all our audition announcements

HOW TO REGISTER FOR AN AUDITION?

  1. Read all of the details on this page and our FAQs page thoroughly
  2. Fill in our online audition registration form
  3. We will contact you back and let you know if there are still audition places available.
  4. If there are, we will reply with confirmation of your child’s private audition date and time and other important helpful information.
  5. If there are no places left, keep watch on the website as further audition announcements are possible. We can also keep you on a waiting list in the event of a cancellation.

HOW DO THE LIVE AUDITIONS RUN?

Each child has a 5 minute private acting audition. For young children this would be a ‘chat to camera’ scenario where the child enters the room ‘meet and greets’ the people in the room and is asked simple questions to camera (eg.name, favourite TV show, what they did on their last family holiday etc).

If your child is comfortable and chatty we may ask them to repeat a line from a TV commercial to camera or get them to react with a ‘grumpy face’ ‘happy face’ etc. For older children we may get them to read from a script, do some improvisation, or ask more from them performance- wise.

There is nothing to prepare for this audition so children can relax and be themselves in a positive and fun environment.

If your child is exceptionally talented in another theatrical area (eg, is an impressive ballerina, a sensational singer, a spectacular break dancer, an incredible musician, a brilliant actor…the list is endless!) and you'd like us to witness their special talent...then please tick the ‘Special Talent section’ when you fill in the online inquiry form so your child is registered for a longer audition time.

They will have their 5 minute screen test/chat to camera and then will perform their prepared ‘routine’ showcasing their special talent to the panel. This section is an OPTIONAL extra and not an audition requirement .  The initial 'chat to camera' and or script audition is the focal point. We have strict rules and regulations regarding safety, time restraints and routine content so please read the information we give you carefully.

ON THE DAY

What to bring? What to wear?

  • A RECENT PHOTO
Each child will need to bring a clear RECENT PHOTO of themselves with them to their audition. This can be a colour photocopy if you prefer as it will not be returned. The photo will be stapled to your child’s registration paperwork and it is how we distinguish one child from another during the auditions so it’s crucial to the process. A school portrait type photo is ideal, as is a natural posed holiday snap. Please no Pixi photos, dance school photos with stage makeup, or photos with friends in them etc. We need to be able to recognize your child easily for the purpose of the audition.

  • ARRIVE ON TIME
Arrive 5 minutes earlier than your audition time to check in, fill out our paperwork and hand in your photo.

  • DRESS SMART
Clothing should be smart, comfortable and suitable for any special talent solo requirements.

  • MAKE UP?
Makeup is optional and not required at all for children under 15. Any makeup worn by older teenagers should be natural and understated.

KIDS: Be prompt, full of personality and enjoy yourself!

Although ultimately some children will be offered places into the agency and some will not, please know that all children auditioning will experience a positive, friendly environment and will be treated with encouragement and respect.

SPECIAL TALENT SECTION

Please note : ALL special talent performers need to have prepared a routine showcasing their special talent in any way they wish (this may be a dramatic monologue, a song, a dance number etc). Routines MUST be cut to fit under 2 minutes.

  • Performers must bring their own backing tracks (if required). Multi media cable connection available at most venues (for phone/ipod to connect to studio speakers). Performers must and be prepared for carpet or floorboard surfaces.  Tap numbers may need to be soft shoe tap depending on venue.
  • Musicians please note our venue only accommodates acoustic handheld instruments (no electric guitars or drum kits please!!)
  • Performers perform at own risk and MP Talent will not be liable for any injuries or damage to person or property.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY AUDITION?

MP Talent will need time to study all the audition footage, paperwork and photos, then decide who we would like to offer places to in the agency.

Every child who auditioned will be contacted . . .

We’ll contact you via email. Please wait to be contacted, and please be patient with us; we would like to give your child every consideration and to do that we need to complete all our auditions in each location first in order to make our decisions.

If your child is offered a place...

In our email to you we will attach all the relevant documents required for you to read over and fill out (how to pay, code of conduct, information regarding photos etc). If you accept this position we will talk you through everything you need to know from here on in.

Our ‘MP Talent photo shoot’ for all MP Talent kids is held in November. Individual times will be allocated by us at a later date and attendance is paramount (this is your child’s photo shoot for their promotional headshot on our website!)

The private meet and greet with Mia Perry (parents and child present) have been replaced with phone meetings due to time and location restraints, as well as Covid practicalities during peak times. This initial phone meeting is to discuss the child's goals and dreams and get to know each other better.

If your child was not offered a place...

Don’t be discouraged - Please explain to your child that there are many factors at play in our decision making…we need a good cross- section of different ages, looks, and skill sets.

There is usually not one specific ‘reason’ as to why they were not offered a place. It could be as simple as this: we saw 100 children who were ten years old with brown hair and blue eyes and we couldn’t take them all!

Sometimes we have more places available in some age brackets than others, and that is dependent on who we are representing at the time. It does not mean your child is not talented or wouldn’t do well in the industry! Children are more than welcome and happily encouraged to re-audition at subsequent intakes.

Please note that it will not be part of the auditioning process to provide individual feedback. We ask that you respect our process and follow the guidelines above.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

As the agency evolves, the talent criteria cannot be as easily defined.  An intriguing personality, a unique look, a special energy, a dazzling smile, a cheeky laugh, a glimpse of star potential can all be enough to receive an offer to join the MP Talent family.   We are really looking for talented children in every shape and form.  Ultimately we are looking for kids that love what they do, have true interest in the performing arts and have supportive parents who are willing to help them along the way.

WILL YOU TAKE ON EVERYBODY YOU AUDITION?

No. Offers for places are always limited and are highly sought after.

AM I OBLIGATED TO ACCEPT YOUR OFFER IF MY AUDITION IS SUCCESSFUL?

No.
